"IDC provides comprehensive oral health care services within the safest and most secure environment possible, responding to the physical and emotional well-being of each patient. Our services are brought to the patient’s residence"

Institutional Dental Care (IDC) is the longest operating oral health coordinating group in the United States. It was founded in 1981 in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area to respond to the needs of people confined to environments such as nursing homes and private homes. We have expanded to other population groups including prisons and group homes.  Our system of health care delivery and quality monitoring were used to set the federal standards set by OBRA 1987.

IDC is uniquely equipped to use 30 years of experience to implement a program that is both state-of-the-art and sustainable in the coming shortage of dental care personnel. Dental care is an essential part of health care, unfortunately for many patients in nursing homes, group homes and other institutions; dental health care is often separated from general medical care, to the detriment of that patient’s dental health. Because many dental conditions are chronic in nature and require preventive on-going care, treatment is often postponed or neglected.

Everybody is entitled to quality oral health care, especially those people whose well-being is entrusted to a nursing home or other care-providing institution.

IDC ADAPTS ITS SERVICES TO EACH INSTITUTION!

IDC is committed to providing quality oral health care to patients within the framework of their living arrangements.  We coordinate the delivery of oral health services to each facility through a comprehensive system that enhances the living conditions for both patient and facility staff.

IDC is on call 24 hours a day! Emergency services are provided seven days/per week. All IDC services are performed by dentists trained in caring for the geriatric patient. All doctors’ credentials are updated and maintained by the main office, and all equipment used is in accordance with the new OSHA guidelines.

SAFETY GUIDELINES

All services are delivered within the guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organization and other national and local oversight organizations.
